Things to do in Branson, MO

“Family fun”, “fun for the whole family”, “get it all at <insert attraction name or travel company here>”. Such energy charged commands permeate the commercials and are very effective when it comes to drawing people to a specific Branson business. Yet, if your family consists of more that you and your spouse, they cost can get pretty high very fast!

A number of people seek fun things to do in Branson but do not want to “break the bank”, as it were, doing them. Don’t worry, there are ways to keep your trip to Branson fun without spending a small fortune doing it. There are two primary areas this article will consider:

  • Free Things to Do
  • Things for Kids

Free Things to do
Everybody would be interested in free things to do in Branson if it were as heavily advertised as the theme parks and live entertainment. The problem is that nobody makes any money off the free stuff, so it gets overlooked. However, if you just incorporate a couple of the following into your Branson vacation, it can save you some cash and every little bit helps!

One of the most fascinating things to see for free is the fish hatchery located on Highway 165 just below the Table Rock Dam. The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery stocks Lake Taneycomo with rainbow trout raised right there! If your family enjoys fishing or nature, this is one thing you can do in Branson for free.

While you are at the hatchery, you’ll also see Table Rock Dam. This is a major part of some of the sightseeing trips you pay to take. Why pay when a map will show you how to take your family right to it? There is a visitor’s center where you can see a large portion of Table Rock Lake located on the south side of the dam. This center is free and also has a hiking trail on the property.

Sunset from Lookout Tower

Located on “Dewey Bald”, just east of Shepherd of the Hills is a steel frame lookout tower that overlooks what locals know as “Mutton Hollow” which is where the Celebration City theme park now sits. It costs nothing to go up this tower and the sight is amazing, it is where the photo to the right was taken. The gate to the parking lot gets locked at night, so you may want to check the hours during the day.

Things for Kids in Branson, MO
Families are constantly trying to keep the kids occupied during a getaway or a vacation. Branson is loaded with things to do for kids. And, in keeping with the previous thought, these kid’s things can save some money too.

Your family has to eat, right? Well, there is a new place in Branson called Playtime Pizza and it consists of a large pizza buffet as well as indoor go-karts and games. Bright colors and fun things for kids are everywhere you look, a sure fun spot.

You have to stay somewhere right? Well right in the heart of Branson, sits a hotel with and indoor water park for kids. Doubtless, the fee is discounted to guest of the hotel, so this is another fun thing kids would enjoy and it helps to save some cash at the same time.

There are plenty of fun things, free things, and things for kids in Branson, Missouri, you just have to take some time to find out where they are!
